PAST PUPILS' ASSOCIATION - 1964, Page One

THE CONCROZIANS

Are YOU a Concrozian?

Did we hear you say: "What is a Concrozian?" The answer is, of course, a past pupil of the CONvent of the CROSS, a name chosen by the Committee from a number of suggestions offered by members.

The Association of Past Pupils, long in existence, recently suffered a period in the doldrums, and, at Reverend Mother's instigation, it was decided, at the Annual Reunion on January 5th, 1964, to reconstitute it. This was done, but though we now have a membership in the 80's, we are sure you will agree that with all the past pupils this is NOT ENOUGH.

Since January this year there have been the following activities:-

Sport

Mar. 21 - Netball. Concrozians v. Present Pupils. Lost.

July 11 - Rounders. Concrozians v. Present Pupils. Lost.

July 18 - Rounders. Concrozians v. The Community. Won.

Social

Apr. 12 - Party for Concrozians and their children. (This will be an annual event.)

July 13 - Party given by the Concrozians for school-leavers.

Nov. 14 - First Annual Dinner Dance, held at the East Cliff Court Hotel, Bournemouth. A great success, but we should have liked more support.

First Annual Mass

Sept. 13 - Offered at our request for the intentions of the Community and in particular of Mother Sohle on her Diamond Jubilee. A cheque was given for the Building Fund.

COMING EVENTS

Jan. 3, 1965 - Annual Reunion and General Meeting.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ALL MEMBERS AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS SHOULD ATTEND. WE NEED YOUR CO-OPERATION, SUGGESTIONS AND CRITICISMS.

If you have not done so already, please let us know you will attend.

OUR AIMS. Briefly they are as follows:-

a) To keep in touch with each other, and with the Convent, not only for the pleasure of knowing what former classmates are doing, but also for the purpose of fostering the common bond which unites us all, of whatever generation.

b)To help those about to leave school in the choice of a career, by practical advice given by those studying or already established in a profession.
c) To put in touch new Concrozians who, perhaps for the first time, find them selves far from home, with fellow Concrozians in their district.

OUR MEANS
a) The Concrozier, a bulletin sent to members 3/4 times a year.
b)
i. Sports: matches arranged with the Convent, and elsewhere when we have a permanent team;
ii: Social events: same on the lines of those held this year;
iii. Dramatics: hoping that our drama enthusiasts will form a group;
iv: THE REST IS YOURS. YOU CAN SEE THAT WE NEED YOUR IDEAS AND YOUR SUPPORT.
We have to cover the running costs of paper and postage; to provide the entertainment at social events, and eventually to build up a fund that could be of assistance to members.

If you welcome this project; if you think it is what every school needs; if you want us to succeed; if you intend to join -

DO IT NOW!
