E-MAIL ADDRESS -
Dear Former Pupils and Members of Staff,
The renewal of life has come with all the joy and glory of Eastertide. Spring foliage and blossoms are beautiful in trie sunshine we have been enjoying.
The Association is continuing to thrive, thanks to the hard work of your committee. We are enjoying the benefits of the younger members, who are taking charge of the running of the Association. We have our Editor of the newsletters, Anne Winiecki and the new Treasurers Shan Coupe and Jacqui Richards, now we need a new, younger Chair to complete the team; the committee has a fine mixture of older, experienced members and younger ones with their ideas for going forward.
Please consider taking on the role of Chair, after 23 years I feel ready to hand over to a younger, fitter person, who will be able to do justice to the position.
The reunion this year will be held on the 1st Sunday in July, which is July 2nd, at the Hall of St Thomas Garnet School in Parkwood Road, Boscombe, our former Junior School St Joseph's, opposite the main Convent building. It will be from 2.30 p.m. and people are free to come and go as it suits them, with tea/coffee and chatter.
We are fortunate that Past Pupil Celeste Dandeker Arnold MBE, OBE has agreed to give us a short talk and DVD about her work with CANDOCO, the company she formed for dancers, with mobility difficulties and able bodied, following her own accident, which left her in a wheelchair. We are sure that you will find this most interesting and inspiring.
Once again Linda Hooper will bring some of the crockery from the Convent of The Cross, with its blue and white colouring and the school crest of the anchor and motto, " O CRUX AVE SPES UNICA," it was very popular last year. It comes from the former Convent Springhill, at East Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The foundation stone of the Convent was laid in 1888 so 2018 will be the 130th anniversary of the foundation of the Convent. We plan to have a special reunion to mark the occasion; further information should be available in the Christmas newsletter.
Please keep your news coming in to the Editor - ANNE WINIECKI
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 2nd July, arrange to meet up with friends there; your committee will look after you, as they always do so well.
We wish you good health, every blessing and a lovely Summer.
With all best wishes,
