E-MAIL ADDRESS -
Dear Former Pupils and Members of Staff,
We wish vou ail the joys of Springtime and anticipate the warmth and longer days of Summer. Easter came earfy this vear so now we cefebrate the Ascension of Our Lord and look forward to the coming of the Holy Spirit to bring us strength. Here in Corous Christi Parish we have about 60 children making their Is* tiot-Y Communion shortly, we wish them and their parents all blessings and happiness.
This is the time of the year when we look forward to our Annual Reunion - this year on SUNDAY lOth JULY
AT ST THOMAS GARNET SCHOOL HALL ON PARKWOOD ROAD. DOORS OPEN AT 2.30 P.M.
It is an informal occasion with opportunity to meet up with old friends and chat over tea or coffee. The
Committee members will be on hand to look after your needs. Please pass on this information to friends, who
might not be Association Members, so do not receive the newsletters. Once again Mr Peter Ford, the Director
of Administration at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic, has given us oermission to use Car Park 1 on
Parkwood Road. We are very grateful.
There is limited parking at St Thomas Garnet School, for disabled people
and Committee members, who have things to unload.
The Subscription is £5.00 a year, details of how to pay and a Standing Order Form, the easiest way to pay, can
be found at the back of this newsletter, also giving procedure for online Banking.
Unfortunately, our Treasurer. EILEEN HUGHES has to retire. No one has come forward to take her place, which is a verv serious position to be in. We cannot see how the Association is to continue unless new people will take on the Administrative roles. EILEEN has put all the information on to a Memory Stick and will bring all the information about banking etc, to the Reunion, after that she will no longer be able to continue.
PLEASE HELP YOUR ASSOCIATION TO CONTINUE. 1936 was the beginning of The Concrozians. the Past Pupils, and we have kept going for 80 years, through the War and changes to the School, largely through the sterling work of the late JEAN WALSH (HUGHES).
WE MUST NOT LET THE ASSOCIATION END THROUGH LACK OF HELP. PLEASE SUPPORT US.
The Convent, Springhill, at East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, has been sold, completion on l1th June. There are only 2 Sisters there now. Sr. May Magenis will go to the Convent at Sittingbourne, Kent and Sr. Marguerite Coward is going to France. We wish them happiness. It is sad to think of the lovely house being sold and hope that future plans will be sympathetic to the house and surroundings.
Like our Convent they have a lovely chapel. There is a lot of crockery with the Convent of The Cross crest on it. LINDA HOOPER (HERBERT) has been over and collected some, we will use cups and saucers at Reunions and other pieces will be on display at the Reunion, for those who wish to do so, to take. I thank the committee for their help and support throughout tne years.
With the world in turmoil, we pray for peaceful solutions to the problems. We wish you peace in your hearts and all blessings to vou and vour dear ones.
See you at the Reunion, Sunday 10th July !!
We wish you good health and all Blessings.
With all best wishes,
Throughout this newsletter the names of former pupils and members of staff will be in capital letters. Where applicable the name by which they were known at school will be printed after the surname, within brackets.
We feel there is still a need and liking for a Past Pupils' Association, which keeps you in touch with former friends and members of staff. Its' continuance and strength depends on you, particularly the younger people. Nowadays we have Face book and Friends Reunited, but feel there is still a place for this link.

They keep the PPA running smoothly in various ways, especially in the organisation and enjoyment of the Reunion. EILEEN keeps the finances in order throughout the year; MARGARET works hard over the Christmas period and into January, ordering the Hamper and later copying and sending Sr. PATRICIA MACKENZIE'S letter of thanks to all those who contribute to the Hamper. MARGARET and her husband Norman kindly keep the membership database up to date and print the address labels for us.
We are grateful to GERALDINE NICHOLLS (MAHY) for hosting our committee meetings at her home in Southbourne.
We are pleased to be able to keep the subscriptions to £5.00 a year. This pays for printing/postage and other expenses which occur. EILEEN takes subscriptions at the Reunion and all the details for paying by cheque, Standing Order or online can be found at the back of this newsletter. If you have any ideas for making the Association more interesting or meaningful for you we would welcome any suggestions.
NB If you forget to renew your subs we can only send the newsletters for 2 editions after subscriptions stop; we cannot afford to do it for longer.
FACEBOOK: The Face book page is BOSCOMBE CONVENT. It is a closed group, so you need to ask to join.
We are always pleased to receive emails from people who have found the website and thoroughly enjoyed its contents. There is a contact for the Chair Mary Brooks and a SEARCH so that you can obtain information about former pupils or staff members if they have featured in any of the School magazines which can be found there.
We thank Glenn Edgeley-Long, who created the site and keeps it up to date for us.
You can find it at:-boscombecatholics.net.co.uk. We love to hear from past pupils with your items for the newsletter which eventually makes its way on to the above website.
You can send news to the editor or Chair Mary Brooks.
Thank you GLENN.
