CHRISTMAS 2015

Dear Former Pupils and Members of Staff,

We thank God for the beauty of nature in this world and the joy of anticipation of the wonder of the birth of the Christchild, to bring peace to all, in the ugliness and horror which is pervading the live&of so many. May there be peace in your lives and we pray for the miracle of goodwill and peace throughout this troubled world. May you know joy at Christmas and in the New Year.

I am sad to bring you the news of the death of our President, JEAN WALSH {HUGHES), on 26th October, in Exeter Hospital. Her condition worsened and she became very ill. May-she Rest in Peace. She would have been 99 on 3rd November, She will be so sadly missed .The Association has sent a donation in lieu of flowers. Masses are being offered for the repose of her soul. We have the difficult task of appointing another President of the Association. Please help with your suggestions. There is further information within the newsletter.

The Reunion was a great success with a very good range of ages represented, which is so heartening. WE have also had offers of new Committee members ! SHAN COUPE (WILSON), JACQUI RICHARDS (McCORMICK), BABS ROWE (GRAHAM), it is such a delight to have new, young members to keep the Association going and moving forward. We are very grateful and happily anticipate working with them. They have already come forward with some new innovations. As many Convent girls finished their education at St Peter's School we hope to join with their Association in some social ways, JACQUI is organising that, HILLY ENDERSBY has set up a Facebook page.

There have been some comments that the existence of a Past Pupils' Association was not known. We have an excellent website www.boscombecatholics.net. The reunion notices are circulated in the bulletins of the churches in a wide range of parishes, for several weeks beforehand; Unannounced on Radio Solent and a notice isput into the Bournemouth Echo. Of course it is in the newsletters received by paid up members, we hope that they will tell their friends about it. Have you any other ideas to help spread the word? There were many past pupils there who had not been before so it was rather disappointing that only 6 became members and 3 have renewed their membership after a lapse, welcome back. Details of how to pay your subscriptions - 5.00 a year.

Thank you to all the Committee members who made the Reunion afternoon so enjoyable; and of course to all who attended and made it all so interesting. Our Treasurer, EILEEN HUGHES, is retiring, please think about a replacement. It is a matter of some urgency.

I believe that some people feel that the newsletters are too depressing, full of requests for prayers for past pupils and their families who are ill, and those who have lost loved ones. It is most helpful and comforting to those concerned. We produce the news which you give to us, so it is up to you to supply us with other items for sharing with others. It is a newsletter, not a magazine; we do enjoy articles of interest concerning your lives. Send to the Editor, ANNE WINIECKI < annie.winiecki@hotmail.co.uk> please keep us supplied with news items.

I have not yet managed to meet the new Headteacher at St Thomas Garnet School, Mr Lickley.

We are unable to have the use of the Hall on July 3rd or June 26th. The Reunion will be on Sunday 10th JULY 2016, from 2.30pm. Some people have expressed a wish to have the Reunions on a Saturday. The St Thomas Garnet Hall is booked every Saturday so we would need a new venue.

We wish you all the blessings of Christmastide and good health and happiness for you and your loved ones in the New Year. With all best wishes,

MARY BROOKS (BROWNING) - Chair & Editor.

THE REUNION JULY 2015

The following is a list of those who signed the Visitors' Books at the Reunion, 28/6/2015. If you do not sign the book we have no record of your presence. We ask that you are consistent in the way you sign your name - the preferred way is the surname by which you are known, for postal use, with the name by which you were known at school, after it in brackets. This will assist the Treasurer when sorting out subscriptions, and for printing address labels.
