CHRISTMAS 2011

Dear Friends,

Once again, on behalf of the Convent Past Pupils' Association, I wish all former pupils and members of Staff all the Blessings of the Christmas Season. We pray that remembrance of the Birth of Our Lord, The Prince of Peace will bring you peace in your hearts and the strength needed in your lives.

Thanks to the hard work of your Committee and Frank Brooks the Reunion was held again on the 1st Sunday in July. We thank the Head Teacher, JULIE- ANNE CUTLER (MATTHEWS) for allowing us to use the Hall at St. Thomas Garnet's School. Although the numbers were fewer than in previous years everyone agreed that there was a happy atmosphere, plenty of chatter. Unfortunately our President JEAN WALSH was unable to travel from Devon for the occasion, this year, we missed her and Angie. At the Reunion FIONA LLOYD (KNOTT) offered to become a Committee member, we welcome her and thank her. We have plenty of room for more volunteers, especially of the younger age group!

Sadly our membership numbers are down, several people have not renewed their subscriptions for several years and must now be removed from our mailing list. We feel that those who do pay the annual 5.00 wish the Association to continue, so will try to keep it going. Fuller details about the subscriptions will be found later in the newsletter and all the information about how to pay is on the back page. Our aim is to maintain the Association in order that former pupils and members of Staff can be kept in touch with each other. Please help us to do so by your support.

The news of other pupils is always of primary interest, in the newsletter, we rely on you to send in items of interest. If you do not read about your age group please remedy this by sending news about yourself and other past pupils, with whom you are in touch. The addresses are printed at the top of this letter, I sometimes receive enquiries via e mail, from people who have found the website, it is very satisfying to be able to put 'old' friends in touch with each other.

We hope that you will enjoy reading this edition.

Dates for inclusion in newsletters are:-The last week in October and mid- April.

We thank ROSANNA FOX(BREDDA, the Secretary at St. Thomas Garnef s School, who so cheerfully prints the newsletter for us, and to JULIE- ANNE CUTLER, who allows her to do so. We wish you all the joys of Christmastide and Peace in the lives and hearts of you and those dear to you, during the coming year 2012.

With best wishes,

MARY BROOKS (BROWNING) - Chair & Editor.

As you see from the Visitors Book 35 people signed it Remember if you do not sign it we have no record of your attendance. Me ask that you be consistent in the way you sign your name - the preferred way is the surname by which you are known for postal use, with the name by which you were known at school after it, within brackets.
It can be very confusing for the Treasurer and myself when sorting out subscriptions, attendance lists etc. Thank you.
