NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS - brooksftn21 @btinternet.com

Dear Friends,

"Spring bursts today, For Christ is risen and all the earth's at play.......
Winter is past, Sweet Spring is come at last....." So wrote Christina Rossetti.
This is such a joyous time to be getting in touch with many of our former pupils and members of staff.

We know that you look forward to seeing names and news of old friends, however we can only print what information we are given so please pass on to us news of yourselves and friends.

The Reunion this year is on Sunday 3rd July, at 2.30p.m. in the Hall of St. Thomas Garnet's School in Parkwood Road, Boscombe. Our old Junior School St. Joseph's. It is an informal afternoon with tea, coffee, squash and 'eats' provided, and time to chat with friends. We do not expect the large numbers of last year, just about 100, as we realize that the big attraction was the visit to the former Convent However please do come, arrange to meet up with old friends. Even if there are not people of your year present very often you will find others of a similar time and will have memories of occasions and staff in common.

Please inform us of any change of address, postal and e mail; sometimes newsletters are returned and I cannot redirect them. I do keep in touch by e mail, if there is something to communicate, so please keep me up to date, if you would like to be in this link. I do not show all your addresses, just the one of a Committee member who has agreed to it.

Our thanks to JULIE-ANNE CUTLER (MATTHEWS), the Head Teacher at St. Thomas Garnet's School, who reserves the Hall for us on the 1st Sunday in July and kindly allows us to meet there. Our thanks too to ROSANNA FOX (BREDDA), who patiently and cheerfully prints the Newsletters for us. It is lovely to know that the School has two Past Pupils of the Convent at the helm.

We need your continued support and badly need more help on the committee, if the Association is to continue. Please see if you can give time for 2 meetings and the Reunion, a year.

My thanks to the Committee, whose interest and efforts keep us going.

We look forward to seeing you on 3rd July from 2.30p.m. We wish you all - good health, every blessing and a lovely Summer !

Sincerely.

Mary Brooks

THE ASSOCIATION

Despite the following of Friends Reunited and Facebook we still have quite a good membership, sadly we have lost some through death. Others have not kept up their subscription; for the latter we send newsletters for the following issue but cannot afford the printing and postage to continue longer, since the beginning of 2010 the subscription has been 5.00.

Most of you are paying the increase but here are still some who have not changed their standing order from 4.00 to 5.00, please check your lank Statements and rectify this, if it applies. All the information about Subscriptions and how to pay them is printed at the end of the newsletter.

Our Committee consists of :-

JEAN WALSH (HUGHES) - PRESIDENT
MARY BROOKS (BROWNING) - CHAIR AND EDITOR OF NEWSLETTER.
EILEEN HUGHES - TREASURER.
BARBARA ATKIN - SPIVEY
AMELA BLAKE (KENNARD)
LINDA HOOPER (HERBERT)
MAUREEN HUNT (DALY)
BETTY SAVORY
MARGARET SIMPSON(ATKINS)

These people have served on your committee for many years now and we badly need new, younger nembers to share the responsibilities. We have 2 meetings a year, in March and October, and of course the Reunion. Our meetings are on a Friday afternoon now and we are grateful to GERALDINE NICHOLLS (MAHY), for hosting them.

St. Peter's Past Pupils Association published the following in their Winter 2010 newsletter.

'DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS YEAR BOURNEMOUTH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS CLOSED THEIR PAST PUPILS' ASSOCIATION AND BOURNEMOUTH SCHOOL HAVE CALLED AN EGM BECAUSE THEIR VERY OLD COMMITTEE MEMBERS NO LONGER FEEL ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH THEIR NEWSLETTER AND ANNUAL DINNER AS NO-ONE NEW WILL VOLUNTEER FOR THE COMMITTEE. DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR ?" It is up to you.

THE WEBSITE.

GLENN EDGELEY - LONG still manages to find time to keep the excellent website up to date. It gives great pleasure to those Past Pupils who find it. We are very grateful to him.

HELEN WARRINGTON (BOND) has sent some of her school photos, which we hope to use. Thank you.
