NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS - brooksftn21 @btinternet.com

Dear Friends,

After a long, cold Winter at last there are signs of warmth and new life. We hope that you have all managed to survive the cold, snow and wet; those of you in more Northern climes fared worse thar we did in the South. The coming Summer should be more enjoyable in contrast.

This year marks 30 years since the closure of our Convent; to mark this decade year we have managed to arrange a special Reunion on 4th July, to include a tour around the old School buildings; now the Anglo European College of Chiropractic. There are fuller details of this later in the Newsletter.

Please read and note the arrangements carefully as there is strict security at the AECC and we must comply with their ruling. We know that you enjoy reading the newsletters, particularly when you see the names of old school friends, however we can only print what you send in to us so please put pen to paper or send an e- mail.

At the reunion we put paper on the tables and some of you give us news that way. We are hoping for a 'bumper' attendance this year so the Christmas newsletter should be very interesting. The reunion itself is an informal occasion, for tea and chatting, with the minimum time spent on notices etc.

A reminder that subscriptions are now 5. 00 a year: if you pay by standing order please instruct your Bank to change the amount I apologise for any inconvenience caused by my change of e-mail address since the last newsletter was printed, please note the slight alteration.

Please inform us of change of address, postal and e mail.

FINAL DATES FOR INCLUSION OF NEWS AND ARTICLES IN NEWSLETTERS - END OF OCTOBER & MID APRIL.

Our thanks to JULIE- ANNE CUTLER (MATTHEWS), the Head Teacher at St. Thomas Garnet's School, for allowing us to meet in the School Hail; and to ROSANNA FOX {BREDDA), who so kindh prints the newsletters for us, so expertly.

We look forward to your continued support and to seeing many of you on 4th July. We wish you all good health, many blessings and a lovely Summer!

Sincerely.

Mary Brooks

Throughout the newsletter names of past pupils will be printed in capital letters, if applicable the maiden name will be in brackets.

THE ASSOCIATION

Considering the lures of Facebook and Friends Reunited we have a healthy number of members on file, thank you for your continued loyalty. Your Committee consists of: -

JEAN WALSH (HUGHES) - PRESIDENT.
MARY BROOKS (BROWNING) - CHAIR AND EDITOR.
EILEEN HUGHES - TREASURER
BARBARA ATKIN - SPIVEY
PAMELA BLAKE (KENNARD)
LINDA HOOPER (HERBERT)
MAUREEN HUNT (DALY)
BETTY SAVORY
MARGARET SIMPSON (ATKINS)

These people have served on your Committee for many years and we would welcome more Committee members. The preparations for the Reunion are becoming too strenuous for several of us, who are not as young and fit as we were, ten to twenty years ago.

Our meetings have changed to a Friday afternoon at 3p.m. twice a year in March and October. This is found to be easier for us all, especially LINDA HOOPER, who comes from Bristol and MAUREEN HUNT, who comes from Wootton Basset!

We are grateful to GERALDINE NICHOLLS (MAHY), who hosted the last meeting for us.

GLENN EDGELEY - LONG keeps the excellent website up to date for us, we are very grateful to him. www.rc-churches.net

THE REUNION

This will be a special Reunion to mark the 30 years since the closure of The Convent The date - Sunday 4th July The venue - The Hall of St. Thomas Garnet's School, Parkwood Road, our old Junior School. The time - from 2p.m.

Tea and coffee will be available and time for you to chat. Do try to arrange to meet up with old friends there. For those who wish it there will be a tour of the former Convent, now The Anglo European College of Chiropractic. This will take place at 4p.m.

As there is strict security at the College this tour will only be advertised in this newsletter and that of The St. Peter's Past Pupils' Association and, of course, by word of mouth. Please be there in time to sign the Visitors Book and get a ticket to participate in the tour.

We will go over in a group for 4 o'clock, to be admitted by Mr. Jerry Lewis, the Principal's PA, who will accompany us and open doors in various parts of the buildings. We will be able to go to the Senior Block and the Hall too. We consider it a privilege to be allowed this access.

Once again the College is allowing us to use the carpark on Parkwood Road, opposite Harvey Road, near the 'Chapel' door. We look forward to a good crowd, it is 10 years since the last visit to the former Convent.
