26, Queensland Road,
We thank God that out of all the gloom of the world wars, dire want, financial worries and, in this country, so many grey days, we can look forward to the brightness and joy of the true meaning of Christmas. The celebration of the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Prince of Peace; may He bring lumination and peace to the world and to the hearts of us all.
We hope that in the following pages you will find interest and the warmth of contact with friends from our school days. All the content is donated by YOU so please keep us informed of your activities and any news you have of other pupils. Committee member LINDA HOOPER (HERBERT) is hoping to oganize a reunion of those who were school leavers in 1969.
The Reunion last July was a very enjoyable occasion, right from the beginning there was a happy atmosphere, a buzz of conversation and laughter. It was so good to see some different faces there, we had five new members that afternoon and have one more since then, very pleasing, it makes all the work seem worthwhile.
The appearance of our President, JEAN WALSH (HUGHES), brought forth a spontaneous burst of applause, what determination and pluck to come from Devon in ANGIE'S motorhome and spend a very windy weekend in it, we thank you both.
It was a joy to see JEAN again after all her tribulations. Our thanks to the Head Teacher of St. Thomas Garnet's School, JULIE-ANNE CUTLER (MATTHEWS) for allowing us to meet in the School Hall; back on familiar territory!
As always your committee worked hard to ensure all your needs were met; I thank them for their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the year. We are sorry that THERESA McINTYRE is no longer ble to continue as Membership Secretary, we thank her for her help during this past year. We would welcome more members please, there are only two evening meetings a year in early October and March, held in Southbourne.
If you have any ideas for the future of the Association we are always open to suggestions. If you do not read about your age group, in the newsletters, please remedy this by sending news of yourself and any other former pupils with whom you are in contact. It is surprising how such items can snowball and bring in more interest.
I receive enquiries via the website, people are so pleased when I am able to put them in touch with old school friends.
We are grateful to ROSANNA FOX (BREDDA), Secretary at St. Thomas Garnet's School, for her work and expertise in printing the newsletter for us, always so cheerfully done!
Thank you too JULIE-ANNE for your co-operation.
We wish you all the Blessings of Christmastide and the New Year to come.
With best wishes,
MARY BROOKS (BROWNING) - Chair & Editor.
