CHRISTMAS 2006

Dear Friends,

I expect that you, like me, find it difficult to believe that we are, once again, preparing for Christmas. Whether you are in the Wintry Northern or the Summer climes of the Southern Hemisphere may we warm and comfort your hearts with the continuance and renewal of old friendships.

We wish you all the Blessings of the Christmas Season; we pray that the celebration of the birth of The Christ Child, the Prince of Peace, brings peace in your hearts and into our war torn world.

It has been a good year for the Association, for although we have lost some members we have gained new ones. We welcome new members and hope that we are able to help you maintain the link with old friends. The last reunion, in July, was very interesting with the attendance of several Past Pupils who had either been unable to attend before or to do so for many years.

It was a happy afternoon. Once again we were able to enjoy the venue of St. Thomas Garnet's School Hall, thanks to PAUL GILLINGS, the Head Teacher. PAUL is now enjoying retirement and his successor, JULIE ANNE CUTLER ( MATTHEWS ), is well established, as her first term as Head Teacher draws to a close. We wish her many happy years with the school.

We hope that you will find plenty of news and interest inside this edition, remember that the contents are supplied by YOU. If you do not read about your age group, please remedy this by sending news of yourself and any former pupils with whom you are in touch.

You would be surprised at the way such items can snowball and bring in more interest. I receive enquiries via the website, people are so pleased when I am able to supply contacts for them.

We were happy to send your congratulations to JEAN WALSH (HUGHES), our President, on the occasion of her 90 birthday on 3rd. November. She has written to us, read on!

We could not function without the commitment and work of the Committee, I thank the members most sincerely for their support and help. We have 2 committee meetings a year, in October and March / April, for those meetings Linda travels from Bristol, Maureen from Swindon and Christine from Ringwood; as they are evening occasions it is a much appreciated effort by working ladies.

We are so pleased that Rosanna FOX (Nee BREDDA) has recovered from the accident, sustained during the Summer Half Term, and is back at St. Thomas Garnet's School, we are very grateful for her co-operation and efficiency in printing the newsletter for us.

As you see from her change of surname Rosanna was married during the Summer, we wish her every happiness.
